I love this story to death!!
Yoneda Kou sensei breaks all conventions with yashiro, part tragic byronic hero, part dorian gray - a masochist powerful, hedonistic, and comfortable in his own skin, even if he is largely the product of abuse. unbreakable, in the way the broken are indomitable. doumeki is, by contrast, a simple man who prefers to be a vehicle for others rather than an agent, comparable to shadow from neil gaiman's american gods.
This is by all means her seminal work. not just romance, but a treatise on the psychology of crime, trust, and abuse, and the realm and dynamics of power.
